Ashes of Creation, commonly abbreviated as AoC, is an MMORPG currently in development by Intrepid Studios.
Note: this page is still under development and information will be updated and changed as time goes on.
One of the primary driver’s of Ashes of Creation is its unique sandbox style of gameplay. With many MMORPGs taking the themepark standard, the developers of AoC are taking a route that few MMOs have gone.
Much like many games in present day, Ashes of Creation is being developed on the Unreal Engine 4.
Ashes of Creation is an upcoming MMORPG, set in a high fantasy open world. We believe in choice, organic events, player narratives and massive communities. All of these come together in what we call our “Reactive World.” Players will shape the world we create through dynamic quests, castle sieges, our Node system, an economy that goes well beyond the auction house, and player housing (among many other systems). We’ll set up the initial state, you decide where it goes from there.
One of AoC’s unique systems is called the Node system. In the game, players will be able to visit different biomes of the world and shape it based on their actions within these zones. The more participation that a node receives by players, the more it will develop — creating civilization itself, ever-expanding.
These nodes are split into four different types: Divine, Economic, Military, and Scientific. Depending on which node a player is at, one of these four will constitute how the players of the game interact with them.
Through the use of nodes, war, and government, Ashes of Creation can reveal hidden aspects of its world. It’s up to the players to see what transpires, marking the game as truly unique sandbox experience.
Nodes grow as players complete content in and around them, and for continued growth of, say a city, players will need to bring resources in from elsewhere using the caravan feature. With limited inventory space for resources, we’ll be using horses to lug our hard-earned materials to other villages and cities.
During these treks across dangerous and dark paths, other player bandits may attack your caravan. It’s up to you and your team to fend off these bandits, or they will be able to take your resources and reap the reward that you worked so hard to earn.
